4: Lady
There was one male fox and two females in the litter. The two females were noticeably-different in size. I named the smaller female  "Lady".

She had a very small black muzzle patch and a slightly larger white tail-tip than the male, Prince. Lady was dominated by her larger sister Princess, who frequently chased Lady from the area, especially around the stump where the egg appeared.

As with Princess and Prince, Lady and Prince got along well together. In their playing, Lady was just as apt to be chasing the larger Prince as being chased by him.

Lady was the most shy of the fox pups and we saw her much less frequently than the other two. This was perhaps partly due to the harassment she received from Princess when they were around the house and gardens together. She was much more likely to run off than her siblings if she saw me on the deck.

The last time that I was certain I saw or photographed Lady was early in August.

Several times between late-September and late-October, I observed a fox coming to the stump that could have been Lady but the light was too poor to be sure. That fox was very wary and didn't stay long.

When a fox was seen coming to the stump in November 2008 and then in the spring of 2009, it was clearly not Lady.

Whether Lady dispersed to a new territory in the fall, or whether she was killed in this area, no-one can say.
